The winning ticket was not registered to a Winners Circle card so there is no way of contacting the mystery winner.
Golden Casket spokesman Matt Hart urged anyone who bought a ticket from the Chatswood Hills News & Casket Agency at Chatswood Hills Shopping Centre in Springwood to check their ticket.
"The good news is they have up to seven years to bring forward their ticket," he said.
The win is the fifth largest individual division one win this year, behind a Cairns woman who took home $40 million and a Hervey Bay local who scored $30 million.
The record for the largest single-ticket win in Powerball history was in 2016 when a ticket bought by grandparents from Hervey Bay won $70 million.
The second largest win came in January this year when a syndicate of 21 Queensland Department of Education workers shared in a $55 million jackpot.
There was more than $5.7 million in unclaimed prizes across Queensland since 2014, excluding last night's winnings.
The winning numbers drawn on Thursday night were 39, 17, 36, 35, 27 and 33, and the Powerball number was 7.
