Severe thunderstorm warnings for Gympie and the northern Sunshine Coast issued on Sunday afternoon were cancelled by 6.45pm but wild weather was expected to come and go throughout the night.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Michelle Berry said the chance of showers and storms in south-east Queensland was like to increase into Monday, with more storm warnings possible on the Sunshine Coast.

Severe storms are heading for south-east Queensland with the Bureau of Meteorology warning of heavy rain, large hailstones and flash flooding.
The extreme weather was moving in a south-easterly direction towards Gympie just after 3pm and pushing toward the west of the Sunshine Coast hinterland by 4pm.

More than 100 millimetres of rain has been recorded near Rockhampton and hail in excess of two centimetres has been reported near Gympie.
BoM meteorologist Michelle Berry said the storms were expected to move down the coast, affecting the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay region and parts of northern Brisbane during Sunday evening.

For inner Brisbane and the southern suburbs, Ms Berry said the wild weather was forecast to reach them overnight and into Monday.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning was also issued the Capricornia and parts of the Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast districts.
