There were some unseasonal cold temperatures in recent nights with Mount Isa breaking a December record of just 12 degrees overnight on Tuesday.
Richmond also had coldest overnight December temperature since 1909 at 11.8 degrees, and Burketown got down to 17.7 degrees - the coldest overnight December temperature in that part of the Gulf since 1920.
The mercury is expected to warm up in the coming days both for maximums and minimums with sunny conditions.
On Thursday daytime temperatures are expected to reach around 40.
Overnight temperatures are only expected to falling to the low 20s with daytime temperatures reaching the low 40s on Friday with sunny weather continuing.
There’s not much chance of rain until the weekend.
On Saturday there is a slight (30%) chance of a shower in the northeast in the morning and afternoon but near zero chance of rain elsewhere.
There is a chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening.
