The Bayside Brisbane MP announced on Saturday night his intention to replace Tim Nicholls and bump out fellow contenders Deb Frecklington and John-Paul Langbroek.

"Despite the best efforts of the old LNP team of leader Tim Nicholls and his deputy, Deb Frecklington, they failed to attract Queenslanders to the LNP," he said.
"Now a new leadership team and a new direction is needed if the LNP is to rebuild trust with Queenslanders and win government at the 2020 state election."
Dr Robinson was first elected to Queensland Parliament in 2009 after previously working in education and charity management for more than 20 years.
He secured his Bayside Brisbane seat of Oodgeroo in this year's state election, in which Labor cemented a victory, gaining a two-seat majority.
Opposition leader Tim Nicholls phoned Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk on Friday to concede, almost two weeks after the election.
Mr Nicholls announced he would not recontest for the LNP leadership, saying it was "time for a new generation of LNP leaders."
His deputy leader, Deb Frecklington, said she would nominate herself for the job, with Tim Mander as her deputy, and would offer a fresh approach for the party.
Member for Whitsunday Jason Costigan declared he wanted the job of deputy leader.
Gold Coast MP John-Paul Langbroek, who was knocked out from the top job when former premier Campbell Newman entered the scene, said he would also contest, arguing the party needed someone who "knows the rigours of leadership".
A new LNP leader will be chosen at a party room meeting on Tuesday December 12.
