Mourners are being encouraged to wear jeans and boots, and something purple - Samara's favourite colour - to her funeral. The service will be held at the Toompang Racecourse on Tuesday, December 19 at 11am.
The Canberra-based picnic jockey and track-work rider was killed in a car accident at Eurongilly on December 3. She was 25.
The Canberra Racing Club will host a Samara Johnson Memorial handicap this weekend in honour of the late picnic jockey in race three at Thoroughbred Park on Sunday.
The club is also organising a free 56-seat bus for anyone wishing to attend the funeral. Johnson's family has asked that in lieu of flowers, people donate to the National Jockeys Trust at www.njt.org.au.
