If there is one family in Mount Isa who live and breath motorcycles, it would have to be the Hanson family. Bike and Rider was first established by Phil and the late Kevin Hanson back in 1975.

As a motorcycle mechanic, Kevin handled the servicing side of the business, while Phil took care of the books.
Initially it was an accessories-only store before it branched out in 1979 to become a key motorcycle franchise and dealer for the Mount Isa and north west region.
Today the store is managed by the Hanson’s son Terry as the one-stop shop in Mount Isa for motorcycles, parts and accessories.
It stocks Honda, Suzuki and CF Moto Motorcycles, but what people find most surprising is its range of power equipment.
This advertising feature is sponsored by the following business:
Bike and Rider has diversified to stock a range Honda and Stihl power equipment including chainsaws, mowers, line trimmers, hedgers, pressure cleaners and blowers in petrol and cordless.
Terry said customers are often surprised when they walk in store to find such a vast range.
“A lot of people aren’t aware of what we do have. Being here for 41 years what we stock has changed, so for those who haven’t been in for a while it is surprising,” he said.
With Christmas just a week away now is the time to drop in and take a browse.
You might be surprise at the gift ideas in store.
“Bike and Rider has specials running up until Christmas on all Stihl products – large and small, on selected Honda motorcycles and power equipment,” Terry said. “Suzuki have great specials on kids bikes and quads up until Christmas as well.”
Those looking to get out and about of the festive break for a ride are being reminded by Bike and Rider to ensure their rides are up to the task.
Bike and Rider’s two qualified mechanics can assist with common repairs and servicing.
“We can repair and help with most problems without needing to send machines out of town,” Terry said.
And that means you can have more time out on the road.
