I wish to thank all of those people in the Traeger electorate who exercised their democratic right and registered a vote.
It is on occasions such as this that we should all reflect on what democracy is about and appreciate that we certainly live in a great country.
Naturally I would have liked the result to have been different, but I respect the democratic right of our people to vote for the person who they feel will do the best job for our region.
I am delighted that our Premier and her Labor government have been re-elected for another term, this will definitely give our state the stability it needs going forward.
I would like to congratulate the local member Robert Katter on winning the State Election and having the honour to represent our region. I would also like to congratulate the other candidates Ron Bird, Sarah Isaacs, Peter Relph and Craig Scriven for running a hard fought campaign.
I would also like to thank the ABC North West, Mob FM, 4LM, The North West Star and the Northern Miner giving me a chance to be heard over the course of the election.
I would like to thank my Candidate Team and the Mount Isa Branch and Charters Towers Branch of the Australian Labor Party, who worked very hard to support and encourage me.
I can’t express my gratitude enough to all of those people who helped me in so many ways, financially, in kind, people who erected my signs and handed out my How to Vote Cards on a very very hot election day. A huge thank you to all those who voted for me or just offered words of encouragement.
I love this region and I will continue to support it any way I can, it may not be from inside Parliament House at this stage but I will be keeping a close watch on developments in this electorate and should the occasion arise I certainly will be keeping our member on his toes.
Lastly my apologies for not having this letter out sooner, I had been sick for the last 10 days of the election and ended up in ICU with pneumonia the day after the election, I’m now well on the road to recovery, thanks to such great care from the Mount Isa Base Hospital.
Thank you again and god bless to the people of Traeger.
