The motoring body has released its Christmas and new year petrol predictions and encouraged south-east Queensland residents to hold off filling up.
"We're still in the most expensive phase of the price cycle here in the south-east," RACQ spokesperson Kirsty Clinton said.
"If you're heading away over Christmas delay filling up a little longer - we expect prices to fall by about 10 cents per litre between now and Christmas Day.
"However, we won't be in the cheap phase of the cycle until the new year."
The holiday period predictions were released on Saturday. The cheapest price was found at Sarina, in the Mackay region, at 132.4 cents per litre and the most expensive was Cloncurry, in north-west Queensland, with fuel costing 149.9 cents per litre.
Petrol prices hit a two-year high last month when they reached 145 cents per litre, with the RACQ declaring the days of 'cheap Tuesday', when petrol prices were almost guaranteed to drop on the same day of the week, were gone.
