One keen bean staked his claim for first place in line at 2.40am, so as not to miss out on a table of ten at this well-supported extravaganza – raising money for Ronald McDonald House North Queensland.
Mount Isa Charity Ball Committee member, Kate Brewster, said that excitement builds each year leading up to the ball, partly due to the theme always being kept a secret.
“We have had our most dedicated loyal fan lining up since 2.40am just to ensure he gets a ticket, which is amazing,” Ms Brewster said.
“We change the theme every year and the theme is kept secret, so I think that helps build a bit of suspense and creates interest. We always decorate the whole hall so the whole space is really transformed.”
This year the ball will be held at the Lumen Christi Centre at Good Shepherd Catholic College on February 17.
“It’s a lovely big space with great air conditioning, which is a big help at this time of year.”
This is the committee’s ninth ball, and the committee has had an “overwhelming response” from sponsors yet again, boasting the most sponsors yet.
Ticket holders will enjoy a three course dinner and drinks, and of course some stellar entertainment.
“We have a band coming up from Brisbane, and silent auctions and raffles on the night,” Ms Brewster said.
