Each of the QAL airports recorded growth on the year prior, with the group collectively welcoming over 765,000 passengers, an increase of 4.2 per cent.
A record number of passengers have also moved through QAL’s four ports in the 2017 calendar year, with in excess of 8.4 million passenger movements across Gold Coast, Townsville, Mount Isa and Longreach.
This resulted in a 2.4 per cent increase across the business, which represented an additional 193,304 passengers.
QAL CEO Chris Mills said momentum at Mount Isa Airport had continued, with the airport recording its eleventh consecutive month of growth and 190,197 passengers for the year (up from 178,704 the previous year).
“Continued development in and around the region is having a positive impact on our passenger numbers – a clear sign that confidence in the region has well and truly been renewed,” Mr Mills said.
"Mount Isa Airport was the standout last calendar year, welcoming nearly 11,500 additional passengers on the year prior."
