Police deserve our support on youth crime
The vast majority of Mount Isa young people are decent kids who I believe will do well in their adult life.

But nobody can, nor should deny that like most communities we have a number of of them who spend much of their time destroying the quality of life for many of our people causing heartbreak and terror.
In recent times I have seen at first hand the terror which these youths have inflicted on residents of our city in particular our senior citizens.
When our Police Service take actions to apprehend these young offenders we have the usual chorus from some in the legal fraternity complaining and attacking them for doing their job.
I was so proud that our Police Minister Mark Ryan came out and supported the police service in the actions which the police are taking to apprehend these offenders who are terrorising good honest hard working people.
I hear the many reasons being peddled by the defendants of these young offenders but at the end of the day we should be placing much of the blame where it rests – the parents of these kids
To hear on our national radio, to watch on our TV sets and read in our papers of the antics of these young people is sickening.
It gives a false image of our city and the vast majority of our young people but I am the first to accept that it is happening.
As a community we should be supporting our police officers in their endeavours, we should encourage those organisations and government agencies who are being funded to support young people to get the message across to young people that such actions are not acceptable and as a community we will support the police and the courts if they throw the books at these offenders and their parents and/or carers if found guilty by the courts.
I haven't always agreed with every action which our police have taken but in this instance I support their endeavours.
And I’m sure that these police officers would appreciate any signs of support which we as a community can show them.

Let there be light
I am so very annoyed that the Mount Isa City Council will not replace broken street lights and put an unbreakable lens on the light.
Light is the heathen enemy of would-be criminals and without they do as they want with no regard for the law or respect to the owners of the property they vandalise.
They demand respect but do not give it.
I have CCTV and I have seen no increase in the number of patrols on Kaeser Rd or the local drug outlet.
Police are hamstrung by a budget and therefore make noises saying they are doing so well, but we in Kaeser Rd still experience heathens of all ages creating havoc or making unnecessary noise. (Whistling, yelling, smashing glass on the street).
It would be wonderful if Robbie Katter could make their parents totally accountable with no recourse.
We have had more than enough.
These heathens show us no respect so, why should we be gentle with them and their punishment in the courts.
Personally I would love to give them a damn good hiding.
Being nice and civil isn't working.

Beware the Moonies
Hey, Mount Isa.
Let's be the first city in the world to categorically say that any belief in a full moon having any effect on people's behaviour is complete and utter crap?
