This fun family sport for all ages will start with a Summer Competition aimed at all ages and starting Friday, February 2.
It will be a three-round competition with a cost as low as $10 per team.
Teams can consist of as many players as what they can recruit but only six players at a time are allowed on the field with a 50:50 ratio to male and female.
If you’ve never played before, it’s not a drama, come and join them for three rounds of fun.
The Association will also be promoting hockey at the Sports Expo at the Civic Centre on Saturday, February 3 along with many other amazing sporting associations.
There will be a round robin, three game round starting on Saturday February 24 for those players who need to get their hand eye coordination back on track.
Official season will start back on Saturday, March 17 2018 and sometime after that will be a celebration of Hockey’s 60th anniversary in Mount Isa.
There will be some non-playing days such as Easter weekend, Labor Day weekend, Dirt and Dust Festival, Show and Rodeo weekend but they aim to end the year on a high with the Junior grand final on September 1 and the senior calling it a season on September 8.
MIHA would also like to remind juniors players and parents of the Junior State Championships for 2018.
We would love to send teams away in the ages of under 13 boys and girls, under 15 boys and girls and under 18 boys and girls. These are games that allows us to show case the talent of the Outback and allow our kids opportunities for the future.
We are lucky enough to have Mitch Nicol and Lazarus Blyth represent Mount Isa at this year’s trials for the Queensland team, but we need players and parent to get involved for this amazing achievement to continue. Due dates for nominations will be strictly adhered to this year so if you interested get in touch asap.
