The Cloncurry parkrun starts at 7am every Saturday at Mary K park and event director Denis Imhof said they had good numbers over the last few months, now averaging 26 walkers and runners.
“We are up to event 13, and we have had 146 runners complete the course adding up to 352 runs for a time total of 10 days 5 hours 16 minutes and 42 seconds or 1760 km,” Mr Imhof said.
“Last week a visiting runner from Brisbane reached his 250th run milestone and set a new course time of 19 minutes and 15 seconds.
Mr Imhof said on Australia Day weekend local participant Steve Chivers celebrated the event with a run dressed up as a crocodile in the green and gold in what was a hot and humid day
“New runners and walkers are always coming down to have a go, which is great to see,” he said.
“We get the serious runners chasing personal best and walkers catching up with friends and having a chat on the way around.”
“The event also sees the parkrun tourists specifically coming to Cloncurry, or staying the night, just to tick off the Cloncurry Parkrun event for themselves.”
