She announced the news last week to family and friends.
“I’m going to be chasing the Australian Pro Rodeo Tri Series event,” she said.
The event will be held in Kyabram, Merrijig and Chiltern on the weekend commencing March 9.
“That’s three rodeos in two days, so I’ll be taking two horses,” Katy said.
“Banjo, of course, and Shooter, who is younger will hopefully fill Banjo’s shoes when he takes over.”
The former Miss Rodeo Australia Queen 2016 said her calendar was full with upcoming events throughout Australia.
“I’m also looking forward to the Australian Pro Rodeo Easter run which starts on Good Friday, March 30,” she said.
“We will be competing at either Deniliquin or Omeo, I’m undecided at the moment, then at Buchan on the first of April and finally Lang Lang on April 2.”
Preparation and planning for these events began months ago and her support team are never too far away.
“I have to stay as fit as my horses so every morning I go for a swim or a jog, it’s easier on the horses if I am fit and have good stamina too,” Katy said.
“My support system is a big bonus because without the help I receive from my mum and dad I think I’d be lost.
“They never cease to amaze me in being there through all my crazy dreams.”
Katy’s ultimate goal is to travel and compete throughout Australia during 2019.
“I want to lead the way in the Australian Rodeo Barrel Racing Rookie title and to do my best to represent my very special outback community of Cloncurry,” she said.
“I grew up surrounded by family and friends who lived and breathed rodeo here in the Curry.”
Katy said she felt extremely lucky to have a good support team within the Cloncurry region and credits her achievements to having the backing and love of the community.
“Without the support of all of them I don’t think any of this would have been possible,” she said.
