Superintendent and District Officer Glen Pointing said the day recognised the diligence and excellent conduct of officers with the presentation of national medals, QPS medals, clasps and certificates.
“I’d like to personally acknowledge each officer receiving the award today and thank them for their ongoing dedication and duty,” Superintendent Pointing said. “I’d like to acknowledge the families of those officers who have supported them through their careers.”
Getting the National Police Service Medal and National Medal were: Karen Hall, Allyson Senewski, Francis Smith and Jeremy Young (all sergeants). Sgt John Nelson got the first clasp to the national medal.
Getting clasps to the QPS Medal were Sen Sgt Sean Wade (30 years), DSS Michelle Clark, Sgt Ross Kirkpatrick and Sgt John Nelson (all 25 years), DSS David Barron, PLO Margaret Chong and Sen Sgt Mark Corry (all 20 years) and AO Michell Gosney, Const Stephen Gurnett, Sgt Adam Hill and Sgt Jeremy Young (all 15 years).
Sgt Darren Haggarty got the QPS Medal.
DSS Michelle Clark got an exemplary conduct medal with investigations clasp for her work on Operation Oscar Demotic which led to the arrest of a Mount Isa pilot on 340 charges including tampering with aircraft.
Several officers received district officer’s certifications for exceeding expectation in the field. DSC Jarrod Horne and PCSC Danielle Lawson won the cert for their work on the Mount Isa homicide in December.
AO Sarah Cooper, Sgt Carmen Dalladay, Const Samantha Foster, PCC Jeremy Strudwick and Sen Const Michelle White won it for their work on the Property Task Force charging 101 people with property offences.
DSC Shane Wockner won for his work on drug offences, PCC Fraser Hutson won for dealing with an aviation incident while off duty, PCSC Renee Matthew won it for her school-based police officer role and DS David Hall won it for his work in the juvenile bail program.
The District Officer’s Certification of Appreciation went to civilian John Green of Cloncurry. Mr Green reported juveniles acting suspiciously in January lighting fires causing destruction to bushland, paddocks a residence and four caravans. Mr Green assisted in identification of suspects to police.
