Toots as she is affectionately called, said she left school at the young age of 15 and worked in a florist in Rarotonga, the main island.
“After completing my trade, I travelled to Australia and eventually settled here in Mount Isa,” Toots said.
In December Toots took over the Isa Florist in K-Mart plaza and moved its location to the arcade next to the Commonwealth Bank in Miles St.
“This location is more central and welcoming. It has a nice feel about it here due to the cafe which has just opened as well,” she said.
A trademark of Toots’ designs is weaved or plaited leaves, an islander style that contributes to her flower arrangements’ uniqueness.
“I want to change it up for Valentine’s Day by adding in my trademark weaves and colour. Lots of colour!” she said.
“I want people to enjoy my flowers with their vibrancy and unique designs, I want to put a smile on people’s faces.”
The Isa Florist specialises in flower arrangements and hampers for all occasions.
“We are happy to help and want to satisfy the customer,”Toots said.
“A selection of wines, beers, spirits, chocolates or whatever takes your fancy can be sourced to add to your individual hamper or arrangement.
“You just have to allow time for me to source the specific items you are wanting.”
Isa Florist is running a Valentine's Day giveaway available to walk-in customers only.
“I’m giving away a flower design to one lucky winner, so come in and get your name in the draw,” Ms Tuteru said.
