A spokesperson said the ad was a error and had been removed from SEEK and they added Mount Isa Mines have never employed any worker on a mandatory FIFO basis.
“In fact, in order to be considered for the permanent Managed Workforce positions advertised, applicants must be residents of Mount Isa, or willing to relocate to Mount Isa to commence employment,” the spokesperson said.
“Locally-based candidates with the right skills and experience are strongly encouraged to apply for these roles.”
Glencore’s Mount Isa Zinc business said it was recruiting for more than 65 vacant roles.
“The Managed Workforce model was developed to make labour hire roles at our operations more attractive,” the company said.
“Managed Workforce employees can access significant benefits including annual and personal leave, and greater security of employment through permanent and fixed-term contracts.”
