Owner Amy Ives opened the quaint little cafe on the corner of Miles St and Rodeo Dr on Monday February 5 with a quiet launch.
Ms Ives said there was a connection with the selection of teas on the menu made by High Tea with Harriet.
“High Tea with Harriet is a family run business and the director’s name is Amy, the same as mine,” Ms Ives said.
“The name Harriet is her grandmother’s name, hence how her business got its name.”
Isa High Tea offers healthy and nutritious food for everyone including the young ones.
“I wanted the cafe focus to be on fresh produce made by talented local businesses,” Ms Ives said.
“I have a wonderful selection of cakes from Mad About Cupcakes and Sweet As Sugar, teas and coffees, and salads but I’m steering clear of processed foods, they’re not good for anybody.”
Ms Ives saw a need for parents to socialise in a healthy kid-friendly environment after having her baby.
Isa High Tea has an enclosed children’s area which extends through one part of the shop.
“There was nowhere to take young children that had a playground inside so parents could watch them and socialise at the same time,” Ms Ives said.
“All the children’s toys were sourced locally as well, they are from Wizzamakidz.”
“I took the time to create a space where parents and young children can come and enjoy a friendly environment with amazing food and an even more amazing air conditioner,” she said.
The children's menu offers healthy alternatives and all meals are reasonably priced.
“I have a cute take on fruit salad as an option for the young ones, it’s called fruit cones, but I also have the fun traditional snacks like fairy bread,” Ms Ives said.
“For the adults I have a range of breads, like homemade raisin bread and mini cob loaf.”
Janita Green, one of Isa High Tea’s first customers, attended the launch and said the food was great and the atmosphere was even better.
“The range of teas are fantastic and you’re provided with brew timers as well,” Ms Green said.
Ms Ives plans to host a high tea-themed night once a month.
“It’ll be a different theme each month which should be fun,” she said.
The Isa High Tea cafe is located in the same building as Isa Florist.
