“We have such an exciting year ahead and we are keen to ensure our visitors have the best experience possible,” said Ms Olivero.
“Outback at the Isa has just reopened its Hard Times Mine tours, which is looking fantastic after the refurbishment works.
“This is all part of a renewed focus on improving the service and support we provide to our valued tourists and tourism operators.”
Ms Olivero said tourism is worth millions of dollars to regional economies such as the north-west and employs hundreds of people.
“MIETV is currently advertising a range of jobs from cafe attendants to mine guides, tourism officers and theatre technicians,” she said.
“We’ve had a natural turn-over of some positions at MIETV and there are now great opportunities to get on board and develop a career path in this growing sector of our economy.”
Ms Olivero said recent rain was the perfect prelude to events including the re-opening of the Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton next month, the 60th Mount Isa Rodeo in August and Italy’s Teatro alla Scala Ballet performance in November.
“We’re refreshed and ready to go,” she said.
“We can expect a huge influx of people visiting our region over coming months to experience the outback and all it has to offer from bucking broncos to amazing landscapes and world class cultural performances.
“Our teams are working hard behind the scenes organising events, developing guides and collaborating with groups such as the Outback Queensland Tourism Association and the Drive North West Queensland campaign.
“I strongly encourage anyone interested in joining the MIETV team to apply today.”
