We have an opportunity that exists for a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join the Fixed Plant Maintenance team at George Fisher Mine. The position is residential in Mount Isa and will require the applicant to responsibly, safely and effectively perform planned and breakdown maintenance tasks while promoting site safety values and ensuring the highest standards of work are conducted and executed in a professional manner.

The Role
We are looking for qualified Mechanical Fitter with a strong involvement in all aspects of maintenance, including routine maintenance, repairs and servicing to join us in the Fixed Plant Maintenance department at GFM. Reporting to the Fixed Plant Maintenance Supervisor, you will have the ability to make decisions, work to meet deadlines and exceptional communication skills. The roster for this role is 4 on 4 off, 4 on 2 off days only.   

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Safe and efficient Repairs to pumps and pipework in the underground environment.
• Perform routine maintenance and servicing of Fixed Plant across the operation,
• Fault finding and trouble-shooting machinery issues
• Managing repairs, servicing and maintenance of machinery and equipment
• Reviewing, creating and modifying preventative maintenance plans for optimum reliability
• Supporting improvement projects that aim to reduce unplanned stoppages
• Maintaining and improving OH&S and overall operational standards in the workplace
• Coaching and supporting production workers to improve their process knowledge and skills

  The successful candidate will possess:

• Mechanical Fitter Trade qualification or similar
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical/schematic drawings
• Ability to learn and understand machinery assembly / disassembly
• Excellent trouble-shooting and problem solving skills
• Flexible approach and adaptable to change with a high attention to detail
• Good time management skills and able to work well under pressure
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
• Good communication skills
• Willingness and ability to learn new processes
• Hold a current Australian Manual Drivers Licence
• Experience in SAP would be an advantage or similar system
