A vacancy now exists in the Engineering department for the role of Senior Coordinator – Design Office & Technical Records.

The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be primarily responsible for the supervision and planning activities for the group of drafting, design and technical records personnel. The position will also be responsible for improving utilisation of the department throughout the business by driving efficiencies and updates to current systems. This position is residentially based in Mount Isa and works a 5:2 4:3 roster.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring compliance with the requirements of Glencore’s technical guidelines, standards, policies and statutory requirements
  • Ensuring adequate systems and procedures are in place and maintained for the Design Office and Technical Records
  • Plans, assigns and reviews the work of drawing office and technical records team
  • Reviewing current workflows and systems for efficiencies
  • Implementing strategic initiatives to increase drawing turnaround time, and drawing office utilisation
  • Development and coaching of new and existing design drafters to achieve best practise in design
  • Establishes deadlines, develops goals and determines production standards for the design drafting team
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders
  • Allocates and manages drafting resources
  • Documentation and communication of new standards and methods

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor Degree or Associate Degree (Diploma) in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Extensive experience in reviewing engineering drawings by interpreting design requirements, scope of work or functional descriptions particularly for heavy industry within mineral processing industry
  • AutoCAD, Microstation or SolidWorks experience with ability to utilise common Microsoft Office Suite of Programs
  • Good oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to achieve results and work within specified time frames
  • Strong customer focus and high attention to detail
  • Supervisory experience leading a team of professional design drafting team
  • Prior experience in Contract development and execution
  • Strong desire for continuous improvement, and system development
