WHEN the leading cowboys take to the bucking stock at the rodeo at Morisset Show this Saturday afternoon, they’ll be risking life and limb not simply to entertain the throngs that will surround the main arena at Morisset Showground. “They’re chasing championship points, and they’re chasing money,” show president Justin Rumore said. In all of the excitement, it’s easy for spectators to forget that the cowboys are chasing a living, so the stakes are high. Mr Rumore said some cowboys would travel about 500km to compete at Morisset. “They travel from everywhere to compete. They just love it,” Mr Rumore said. That distance was surpassed only by how far spectators travelled to witness last year’s rodeo. “It really is a major drawcard. It draws people from Newcastle, Tamworth and we had lots from Sydney last year. We even had people there from New Zealand,” he said. The action starts at 4.30pm and will be followed by fireworks at about 9pm.
