Edna and Ben Trindle have volunteered for the organisation for 15 years, and with no personal affiliation with the condition, it was all out of kindness.
Leukaemia Foundation North West fundraising coordinator Kathy Swift said the pair had been an invaluable asset to the cause.
"They have done anything and everything to help us out over the years," she said.
"Whether it's lifting scrap metal, hauling cans over town, or helping with barbecues and cent sales, they're always there."
The two were recognised in an award presentation by Mayor Tony McGrady at the Irish Club on Sunday night.
Only three people in Queensland have ever received the award in 37 years, which recognises 15 years service to the foundation.
One was on the Gold Coast, and two were Mr and Mrs Trindle.
"We don't have many volunteers, they're pretty scarce but what we do have is a good band and we've all been together for many years now," Mrs Swift said.
The couple didn't join the foundation many years ago because of a personal battle with Leukaemia, rather just to volunteer.
"They saw that we needed some workers and they joined, and have been with us ever since," Mrs Swift said.
The Leukaemia Foundation are currently selling raffle tickets, have an upcoming garage sale and a cent sale to keep them busy, but Mrs Swift said the group would be taking a well-deserved break in fundraising for Christmas.
