To celebrate 90 years of schooling, Central State School will display a metal time capsule that will be opened on the schools 100th year celebration in 10 years’ time.
Glencore Mount Isa Copper Hoisting Department has donated the materials and labour to construct the capsule for the school and yesterday presented school captains with the capsule.
Principal Kathy King said she welcomed the community to come along to the celebrations.
“We are looking forward to welcoming past and present students to come and join in on the celebrations,” she said.
Central State School will host the official ceremony on Friday, October 31 and have open classrooms decorated in the theme of years gone by.
Classrooms will open at 1pm Friday, so the community can enjoy the work done by students and the official ceremony will be held in the library at 2pm where the capsule will be displayed.
After the ceremony, bush games will be held on the oval where parents and children can purchase burgers and drinks.
