Their proactive commitment to facilitating new communication channels is evident through their new Facebook page, Friends of Mount Isa CWA.
They met to discuss opening new communication channels with local women and QCWA.
A letter outlining the FMICWA’s honourable intent and continued interest in joining Mount Isa CWA has been sent to the president of the QCWA Mary McFarlane.
The response and support in the community to keeping the local CWA branch open was gratefully acknowledged by Mount Isa CWA vice president Daphne Doak.
She told the meeting the number of local women wanting to join was encouraging.
Mount Isa CWA secretary Anne Morris said more women were looking to join the group.
“These women have already expressed their interest in ‘learning the ropes’ with the aim of taking on committee positions within the next 12 months,” she said.
“While we are encouraging these women to come on board with our Mount Isa branch, they are understandably cautious until such time as the present unrest is resolved.”
Mrs Morris said, in the interim, local women were invited to log on to Friends of Mount Isa CWA’s Facebook page to continue the momentum of interest.
