Senior Sergeant Rix has been in the Australia Day committee for three years and has represented various sports including rugby league and the Curry CATS triathlon club in the five years since he moved from Brisbane. “I have seen and experienced a number of social issues affecting the town by virtue of my position at the police station,” he said.
“I think I can offer a lot to the community of Cloncurry if elected.” Community safety by installation of street lighting, security cameras and maintaining buildings was important to the Senior Sergeant, as well as the need to rid the town of the damage caused by methylamphetamine. “These are not issues to me just because I am a police officer,” he said. “They are issues to me because I am a father of two school aged children, and have a family who has settled in this town.”
