Twelve-year-old Patty Major won the snake-naming competition with the name Jake the Snake.
The year seven student said she was familiar with snakes like Jake.
Patty said she had seen a king brown snake when she was in Doomadgee.
As a prize for creating the winning name, Patty has won two free games of bowling.
Mount Isa Tenpin will also be throwing a party for Patty and other children from Mount Isa Flexible Learning Centre.
Manager Joel Pate said the party was to support the students who frequently visit the bowling alley.
“It’s just to reward them for their studies,” he said.
Mr Pate said over 80 names were entered in the competition, but the simplicity of Jake the Snake is what made it a winning name.
