Mount Isa City Council looks set to end the lease of Lake Moondarra’s Isa Youth Camp lease which it took on from the Mount Isa Water Board in 2013.

Mayor Joyce McCulloch said Council relied on partnering with businesses for upgrades, but the amount was escalating and the camp needed extensive repairs and upgrades, including a filtration system to meet compliance.
“We need to focus on our existing facilities for upgrades,” she said.
“While it would be fantastic to have the camp restored to its former glory, we are hoping to spend more than $1 million this year on our existing youth orientated infrastructure, including the skate park and the fun park, and this will have to be a priority for now.”
