Glencore scaling crew supervisor Tim Brummell said his team were happy to lend a helping hand in the gardens.
“The fellas like getting out from underground to spend some time in the sun.
“The underground museum part here is inspected every year for ground conditions, so we donate our time to come across and check that to make sure the tourists are safe,” he said.
Mr Brummell said local business man Rob Cusack donated wood chips for the gardens.
“He delivered that free of charge that today, a truck load of that for us and he didn’t even hesitate to do that, so it’s good to see people helping out,” Mr Brummell said.
Museum volunteer coordinator Diane Johns said she was grateful for the help.
“It’s not the first time they’ve been up, they’ve been up several times of late to weed and help maintain it,” Ms Johns said.
