This year Mount Isa City Council is holding its main registration point at the Pioneer Fun Day, Woolworth’s shopping centre, Abel Smith Parade.
Between 7am and noon, volunteers are welcome to come and sign up and grab some bags and gloves before heading off to their chosen clean-up site.
During the morning, there will be information stalls including Mount Isa Mines and Southern Gulf NRM, market stalls entertainment, jumping castles, sausage sizzles, and a fantastic reuse and recycle workshop held by council, where participants can make a range of repurposed items.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said the Great Northern Clean up Fun Day was a chance for the community to come together and show their pride in the community by cleaning up their chosen spot, and enjoying the festivities as well.
“With a bit of hard work, we can make a huge difference to our own community surrounds, and why not have a bit of fun as well,” Cr McCulloch said.
Participants are encouraged to visit the Pioneer Shopping Centre from 7am, and make sure to wear a hat, long-sleeved shirt and enclosed shoes.
