New Year's resolutions will range from getting organised to spending more time with family, with giving up smoking and losing weight the most popular choices.
Hayley Delamare from Mount Isa's Amcal Chemist said weight loss and quit smoking products were among the top sellers in January.
"A lot of people come in for weight loss products at this time of year," Ms Delamere said.
"People have to want to lose weight, or give up smoking, we can only advise them on the various products but they have to want to do it for themselves."
Mount Isa resident Narelle Horbury plans on giving up smoking today, joining thousands around the country trying to quit.
"It's a new year and time to make a new start," she said.
Ms Horbury and her partner are planning a wedding in 2014 for which she will use her cigarette money to fund.
"I spend $100 a week on cigarettes, so my cigarette money will pay for the wedding."
Child care worker Trenna Frew is determined to make 2013 the year she gets fit.
"It's been a goal for a few months, so I will start going to the gym," she said.
"I will walk the dog more, drink more water and do different things like attending boot camp or taking up a sport," she said.
Second To None Nutrition owner, Akos Schneider said his store had been busy since Christmas.
"We've had quite a few people coming through already saying they need to work off what they've done over Christmas," Mr Schneider said.
"They probably need a new meal plan coming into the New Year and quite a few have already come in and set one up to start straight away."
