With all grades having two coaching staff and manager on board for the year and some new key coaching appointments the club is looking forward to increasing player numbers.
The club has elected a whole new committee, consisting of Sean Wade (President), Mick Smith (Vice President), Bernie Crayford (Secretary), Nicole Clauson (Treasurer) and Tracey Jones (Publicity Officer,)
They come on board as long time Townie stalwarts Bruce and Sue Nott decided to pack up their digs and move to the east coast.
The committee said they wished Bruce, Sue, Sam and Cooper all the very best with their move and they would be missed after having contributed greatly to the club for many years.
The club’s first sign on day is Wednesday January 25 at The Buffs Club Lodge room.
Juniors are welcome to come along and sign on from 5.30pm and the day corresponds with the opening of the get Started Program where those eligible can apply for a government grant to off-set the cost of player registration.
The club said they encouraged past players to take advantage of this incentive and come along to this sign on day, the club will have a number of committee and coaching staff there to assist parents with this process.
Seniors are also welcome to come along and meet the committee and coaching staff. Refreshments will be provided.
Among the new faces at the club are ambassador is John Doyle who played NRL for the Sydney Roosters and North Queensland Cowboys and who also represented Queensland in State of Origin.
Doyle will work with the club coaches and he is keen to interact with the juniors and promote healthy choices and having children remaining engaged within our community through school and sport.
Town’s new A grade player coach for season 2017 is Alan Helsinger, new to Mount Isa and previously played state level junior rugby league for Queensland, in the National Youth Competition for the Sydney Roosters and then with the Redcliffe Dolphins in the Queensland Cup.
