Now in its fourth year, the free community event provides a one-stop shop for children and adults alike to sign-up to different sports across the city.
There they can also register to volunteer or simply find out what events are coming up.
Councillor Peta Macrae, Community Development, Sport and Recreation, Youth portfolio, said the Mount Isa City Council-run sports expo was all about encouraging healthy lifestyles and active participation across Mount Isa.
“We have such a vibrant community with lots of active residents and families and this Expo is an opportunity for people to explore their sporting options and see what is available,” Ca MacRae said.
“This city has produced some of the world’s greatest sports people and athletes, and the Expo on Sunday is a way to ensure that we encourage and support an ongoing passion for sport in Mount Isa.”
With almost 40 sporting groups registered to host a stall, Cr Macrae said Mount Isa residents would have the opportunity to sample a huge amount of sporting information and demonstrations.
“The aim of the Super Sports Expo is to give people the opportunity to try a number of sports and to provide information on what sporting options are available in the community,” Cr Macrae said.
The Super Sport Expo will run until noon on Sunday February 5 at the Civic Centre.
Entry is free.
Doors open to the public at 9am and Cr Macrae will officially open the event around 9.10am with some welcoming words.
There will be a demonstration of Sikaran Martial Arts by the Sikaran martial arts team led by Chris Roche.
Later Kylie Brooke will lead the North West Gymnastics troupe in a gymnastics demonstration.
The Dean Studio of Irish Dance will also be performing.
The demonstrations will wrap up with a demonstration of Practical Karate by Daniel Taylor.
