The IsaRATS committee said it was tirelessly working on getting the new chip timing system up and running.
To ensure this runs smoothly no late or on the day registrations will be taken.
Registrations for the race close Friday February 10pm and registrations cost $10 (or $30 for a team).
Transition opens at 6.30pm with a race briefing at 7am before the start at 7.15am.
There are enticer options (150m swim, 10km bike ride and 1.5km run) and a spring triathlon (750m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run).
There are also team options of two to three people.
Race two is on Sunday, March 5 and Race three is on Sunday March 26.
The event follows the very popular season opener, the corporate triathlon held a couple of weekends ago.
Race MC James Coghlan said James Stewart from the Toni Boucher Trio was first out of the water with a big 30 second lead over the next three swimmers in the corporate tri.
“Emerging from the water together were Michael Adendorff (The Expendables), Bret Wessels (Blood, Sweat and Beers) and Maddy Van Hunnik (JO'C PT),” Coghlan said.
“In the ride Geoff Baker took the Expendables to a big lead and Ross Lovejoy made up ground to put Blood, Sweat and Beers in second place.
“Richard Epstein held off Bryan Brown to give The Expendables the win.”
Coghlan said Shane Hartnett from the Hasting's Hurricanes was the inspiration for the day after popping his shoulder in the swim but continuing on.
“Shane made the tag and then medical officers were able to assist him,” he said.
“Fantastic crowd with one runner turning around at the lookout saying that when he looked at the scene it ‘looked like a rock concert with so much colour and so many people’.”
The committee is hoping for good numbers again this weekend.
The junior IsaRATS are also having their first race to the creek this weekend on Saturday February 18 at 4pm.
The location is Mount Isa Splashez Pool and the meeting point is Mount Isa Touch Oval (Church Street Entrance)
Registration fee is $5 per participant (includes pool entry) with registration open on the day. Transition opens at 4pm and closes 4.25pm followed by a compulsory race briefing and a race start at 4.30pm.
Junior Race to the Creek 2 is on March 4 and race 3 is on March 25. The Julie Creek Dirt N Dust triathlon is on the weekend of April 7-9.
