Scott Jones has started a group called Mount Isa Strongman and they meet every Tuesday night at Stack Gym gym above the Barkly Hotel.
Jones and his family has recently moved to the Isa from Julia Creek and he works as a Critical Care Paramedic for the QAS on the road and also on the Life Flight rescue helicopter.
He also has a long involvement with strongman having set up Strongman Gold Coast and he said strongman was a full body experience.
“I have trained strongman since 2009 and wanted to start a group here in Isa because I feel this type of training is fun, healthy and if completed properly builds a stronger body to keep you from getting injured,” Jones said.
“I find it helpful work as it lets me lift people easier.”
The sessions are on 7pm each Tuesday, $5 a session or free to Stack City members.
Jones is planning a Mount Isa Strongest Man competition for July 22 open to men and women.
