Ten acts sang, danced, and played for a full crowd at Civic Centre.
Mount Isa personalities Emma Harman and Aunty Viv Edwards joined Timomatic on the judging panel, and all three commented on the impressive array of young local talent.
They awarded first place to an incredibly in sync ruby red sequin-clad modern jazz dance duo, Maddison Dolzan and Willow Shaw, both 12 years old.
Timomatic commented at an awesome flip which drew an audible ‘wow’ from the audience.
“You are seriously good, and that back flip thing that no one else in this room can do? That was amazing,” Timomatic said.
Second place went to five-woman dance group DiLi Halo, inspired by Beyonce’s ballad ‘Halo’.
Of the 16 performers, there were 12 dancers, three singers, and one very talented pianist, Matthew Cobden (17), who took out third place for his lively rendition of ‘Wake Me Up’ by Avicii.
“Yeah you need to put that up on YouTube or something, seriously,” Timomatic said.
The contest was followed by a high energy performance by Timomatic himself, including a dance battle between four girls and four boys on stage.
A group of young dancers had also benefited from a dance workshop with Timomatic on Tuesday afternoon.
The well-attended local concert was organised by Mount Isa Youth Council in collaboration with Councillor Peta MacRae.
