A five race card attracted a good crowd determined to soak up the festival atmosphere.
And most would have been happy when the favourite took out Race 1 the CNW The Leading Independent Ratings Band 0 - 50 Handicap over 1450 metres.
Tim Brummell led the $2.30 priced Frisco Journey to victory for trainer Kerry Krogh two lengths clear of Zatochio in second with lasting image a further five and a half lengths back in third.
Race 2 was the CNW Working With the Isa Benchmark 65 Handicap also over 1450 metres and the Ballards conjured up a roughie to victory.
Keith Ballard expertly steered the $12 shot Wulfwin to a win for his trainer wife Denise with Dan Ballard keeping in the family coming in second half a length behind on He’s A Magician for Damien Finter.

Diurnal Tiger finished third.
In Race 3 the CNW Mount Isa QTIS Class 2 Handicap over the shorter distance of 1000m, trainer Kerry Krogh had his second win with The Girls in Paris with jockey Tim Brummell aboard.
He won by almost three lengths from Bugsy Malone with Crack A Coldie third.
Dan Ballard took out Race 4 the CNW Proud Aussie Open Plate over 1000m.
He led Jim Jackson’s Five O’Clock to win by a length clear of Wilker, with Craiglea Cruz five lengths back in third.
The final race of the day – before the Mailman, that is – was the CNW Electrical Wholesale Bill Braden Memorial Class B handicap over 1200m.
The win went to the combination of jockey Tamara Tincknell and trainer Grant Wiles for their mount Red Charmer.
The $2 favourite streaked home three and a half lengths clear of Veganer with Baton Rouge third another three and a half lengths further back.
