The Best Dressed Premises Awards are a way of showcasing Mount Isa’s business community, said organiser Travis Crowther of Commerce North West.
“A lot of the businesses and schools are always involved in Rodeo,” Mr Crowther said.
“To get people to come in and visit your business and generate some leads, it’s great promotion for you and your location,” he said.
Townview State School won Best Dressed School for their scene depicting a 1920s speakeasy jazz club with a poker game underway.
“As you can see they’re corrupting the kids nice and early which is good to see, gambling and cigars.”
Best Business was divided into number of employees; five or fewer went to Hit FM, 6 –12 went to Vivid Realty Real Estate, and the 13+ winner was Credit Union.
The North West Star People’s Choice Award went to Healy State School, which was also runner-up in the Best School category.
The Judges’ Choice Prize went to Hit FM 102.5, partly for their customised song ‘Party in the I.S.A’.
The judges had a tough time in their decision-making, said Mr Crowther.
Amber Huntey from Workpac judged each premises, along with Councillor Peta MacRae and Mount Isa Rodeo Charity Queen, Alison Gibbs.
“I think they wanted to award everyone a prize because of the amount of effort that went into each display, they really enjoyed it,” Mr Crowther said.
Mr Crowther thanked Frameworld for providing frames for photographs of the award-winning displays, and Outback Drones for their photography.
