Saxophonist and composer, John Babbage, has been with the company since 1996, and taught Mount Isa students in his latest excursion.
Good Shepherd Catholic College music teacher, Jade Marinelli, said the four Brisbane-based artists from Topology will be visiting once a term in the lead up to Rodeo Week.
“Our music students will be learning about composition and performing, which is really exciting, and great tools for the students to develop,” Ms Marinelli said.
Each ensemble will compose their own song, and all songs will be performed at the Isa Street Fest next year.
“The Isa Street Festival was very recent, so it’s fresh in their minds how much they enjoyed it, and the kids have been very excited about performing next year,” she said.
Topology’s series of in-school workshops is designed for young musicians to explore, create, and perform music in their community, for their community.
Over a minimum of two months of repeat visits, Topology conducts composition workshops in schools, with the artists working closely with students and teachers to compose new pieces.
