Mr Katter is a fierce Uber critic who was shown the post on the New Mount Isa Vent Page when it was published on Tuesday.
“I agree with businesses not taking Mount Isa people for granted, and it would be a shame if you felt that happened,” Mr Katter said.
“But there’s a lot of good businesses that do a great job out here despite adversity.
“Uber is not a true competitor because that is like competing with taxis having their hands tied behind their back, and I appreciate people might get frustrated with their service from time to time, but don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.”
The State MP has been advocating against Uber in the parliament and last week asked two questions about it directed to the Minister for Main Roads, Mark Bailey – who has time to respond.
Mr Katter asked if the government would buy back surplus taxi licenses from drivers. He also asked if the government was legislating security cameras for Uber vehicles given reported sexual attacks against women using the service.
There are no Uber drivers in Mount Isa, although a Brisbane Uber driver was fined in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court for using his phone while driving.
