The Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo has done it again, taking out back-to-back gold in the Queensland Tourism Awards.

They were one of six Outback Queensland tourism operators to take accolades at this year’s Queensland Tourism Awards, having also won in 2016, and then gone on to win the national award.
The Rodeo took gold in the 2017 festival and events category and they were joined in the winners circle by Cobbold Village near Forsayth which won the hosted accommodation section and Longreach’s Outback Pioneers which won the cultural tourism gold.
The Birdsville Big Red Bash was runners-up in the festival and events category and Kinnon & Co Outback Accommodation in Longreach won bronze in the Self-Contained Accommodation section.
Cobbold Gorge Tourist Attractions also took out a Highly Commended Award.
The Isa Rodeo put a message out on their Facebook page the Isa Rodeo said they were ecstatic to notch up another award.
“We’re so excited to win the Festivals and Events category of the 2017 Queensland Tourism Awards for the second consecutive year,” the rodeo said.
“A massive thank you to all our supporters, we couldn’t do it without you. Australian Tourism Awards here we come.”
They along with the other gold winners will gain automatic entry into the Australian Tourism Awards in Perth on February 23, 2018.
QTIC Chief Executive Daniel Gschwind said the 33nd Queensland Tourism Awards had attracted an outstanding array of tourism operators across all award categories, with more than 160 nominations received state-wide.
“This year’s entrants across 28 business, event and individual categories reflect the diverse and dynamic range of tourism operators helping Queensland’s tourism industry flourish,” he said.
Tourism Minister Kate Jones said the Queensland Tourism Awards recognised excellence in the tourism industry. “The Queensland tourism industry is growing from strength to strength.”
