Starting as a ‘meal prep’ provider based at the former premises of ‘Up Ya Get Nutrition’ on Rodeo Drive, Energize offers healthy, home cooked meals in a convenient take home format.
It is the brain child of health nut, Sarah Gale, best known for whipping local butts into shape as Galeforce Fitness. But Ms Gale assures us this is far from “typical gym food”.
“It’s not your plain chicken or veges, it’s proper premium home-cooked meals, so it’s more sustainable,” Ms Gale said.
“I don’t believe in substances and stuff, which a lot of PTs promote. I’m a believer in whole foods, and long-term, sustainable, permanent change.”
Energize is aiming to fill a gap in the market for Mount Isa’s busy mums, miners, and manual labourers.
“Shift workers especially, if they’re finishing a 12 hour shift at 8pm it’s not very likely they will go home and cook themselves a healthy meal. They’re more likely to visit one of the other joints in town.”
“With our meal plans the food is fresh, you can freeze them, and have them there ready as back up meals,” Ms Gale said.
Qualified chefs and cooks are behind the recipes, including talented New Zealand chef, Dwayne Marsters.
“We’ve got 12 different meals at the moment that we have perfected, and we will swap it up over the seasons,” Ms Gale said.
The menu looks tasty so far, with Thai red chicken curry, beef stir fry, roast chicken, and salmon.
Eventually she hopes the brand will extend to offer Mount Isa more in phase two; a sit-down salad bar, or similar.
Until then, the full Energize meal plan can be viewed and ordered at www.energizenutrition.com.au/product/28-day-nutrition-plan-10-discount/
Orders need to be in by Thursday as prep is done on Friday, cooking on Saturday, and pick-ups on Sunday from 17-19 Rodeo Drive.
