Residents have been left without landline and mobile services for more than 48 hours following a transmission failure and issues with batteries connected to the town's solar infrastructure, which occurred on Sunday January 14.
Telstra technicians had promised to visit the community by charter flight on Sunday to resolve the problem, but cancelled late in the day.
Mornington Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Frank Mills, told the ABC he felt abandoned by the telecommunications company because, other than a couple of satellite phones, no one could contact the mainland.
