A NEW year means a new start for a Mt Isa accommodation stalwart.
After more than a year of being closed, the Inland Oasis Motel is again operational with new owners keen to invest in and rebuild the business.
Manager Hushnain Mushtaq said the owners could see the value of investing in the motel to provide rooms for short-term stays in the city, as well as a focus on providing deals for workers requiring longer-term accommodation
The Inland Oasis Motel re-opened on January 15 with renovations having begun and continuing to progress.
So far renovations at the motel have included improvements in furniture, and to the gardens and restaurant.
“They are ongoing, continuing to replace beds, furniture and other amenities,” Mr Nain said. “Everything should be up to date in a year.”

“We are trying to be attractive as long-term accommodation for workers in town,” Mr Nain said.
“Whether it is weekly or monthly, our rates are cheaper than daily rates.
“For those who don’t have accommodation, they now have this available.”
