Students took time out of their school holidays to attend the sporting program ‘Sport 4 Life’.
Townsville Fire’s Mia Murray and Melbourne Boomer’s Courtney Duever ran skills workshops for children aged six right through to 17.
The Sport 4 Life program aims to boost young people’s health through physical activity.
The skills workshops ran in Mount Isa, Cloncurry and Camooweal,
Mount Isa teen, Sarah Gilbert, 14, said she had a great time learning from the two professional athletes.
“I came along to have fun with some of my friends,” Ms Gilbert said.
“I had never played basketball before so I was learning a lot of skills.
“I think basketball is neat,” she said.
Program coordinator Alex Birnberg said youth had worked on goal setting and team building.
“It has been a smooth ride,” Mr Birnberg said.
“All of the kids have been really lovely.”
