A day at the Dirt N Dust races at Julia Creek

Saturday afternoon at Dirt N Dust is the opportunity to put away the sports gear, dress up in style and kick up the heels at the races which attracted a huge crowd as usual to Julia Creek’s McIntyre Park.

As well as the country tastes lunch, the hotly contested fashions on the field, and the triathlon presentation ceremony, the highlight of the meet is the South32 Cannington Artesian Express Class 2 Handicap worth $17,000, making it the richest race in North West Queensland. Owners of Bowie Rocks were ecstatic to be on hand to witness their horse bring home the glory for trainer Denise Ballard’s fourth Artesian Express win, with her son Dan Ballard aboard.
