Cloncurry mayor Greg Campbell has welcomed the Incitec Pivot announcement they have renewed the Aurizon rail services contract.

“I am pleased my support of Aurizon’s submission has helped secure more than 50 jobs for Cloncurry for the next 8 years” Cr Campbell said. “I would like to acknowledge Incitec Pivot on their community minded decision. Now it is up to Aurizon to fulfil the expectation that this decision will strengthen our community.”
This contract provides additional job security for Aurizon employees based in Cloncurry and Aurizon have in place a Trainee Driver Program aimed at training and employing locals.
“These families are valuable members of our community with children in schools, shop at our local businesses and support local events.”
There are 52 Aurizon staff and families in Cloncurry. Aurizon own 36 houses in town and this equates to $5 million spent in Cloncurry.
The mayor said Council encouraged all companies operating in the Shire to house staff in Cloncurry.
“With great schools, great amenities and lifestyle opportunities, we want to promote the presence of employees and families in Cloncurry,” he said.
“We will continue to support businesses who provide jobs for local residents.”
