The money will go towards preparing the grounds for the 2018 campdraft which is on July 6-8 this year.
Receiving the grants at council chambers were Sporting Shooters Association - Eilliot Dunn, Treasurer Mount Isa Basketball Association – Krystal Chong, Vice President Mount Isa Dirt Bike Club Inc – Mark Bax, President and Kelvin Gregor, Vice President.
Mr Bax said the Dirt Bike grant was in kind with Council clearing the vegetation from the Barkly Highway fenceline of the club grounds so they could get sponsors’ signage up.
Mr Bax said their season started at the end of May with a Jade Oates coaching boot camp on May 4-6.
Ms Chong said the scoreboards at the basketball stadium deteriorated every year due to wear and tear. “We’re a new committee focusing on our juniors and we need a new scoreboard,” she said.
