This year’s event commemorates the 150th anniversary of Burketown’s Gazettal and will feature Country Music star Tania Kernaghan as MC.
A spokesperson said music will be provided by Mount Isa based BullDust Band who were a big hit at the 2016 Ball.
“The Ball will commence at 6pm and runs through until midnight,” the spokesperson said.
Tickets are on sale now – $60 per adult, $20 for primary aged students and under 5-year-olds are free.
“Alternatively there is a family package for $140 for 2 adults and 2 children.”
Tickets can be arranged by calling the Burke Shire Council Office on 4745 5100 and we have a limit of 220 tickets.
The Order of the Outback Award has its origins in the 1980s and is presented every two years.
The award recognises individuals or organisations that enrich the lives of people in outback Australia through their paid or unpaid work.
Nominees can come from anywhere in Australia.
“Past recipients of the award have included Dr Don Bowley from the Mount Isa base of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, The Burke Shire Emergency Service groups and author Colleen McCulloch,” a spokesperson said.
It has a long standing tradition for the Burke Shire to hold a ball to celebrate the Order of the Outback.
