Parking spots on Short St were as scarce as hen’s teeth on Friday as it seemed all of Mount Isa converged on St Kieran’s Catholic School for its annual fete.
The event is a perfect starter for Mother’s Day weekend and there were plenty of baked goodies – including fudge – on sale for anyone looking for a delicious last minute present for mum.
On a cold Mount Isa’s winter’s night, everyone was rugged up but there were plenty of activities to keep the kids warm including a maze and sideshow alley.
The stage area was popular with great performances from the St Kieran’s School Choire, Mount Isa School of Dance, the Erin Dean School of Irish Dance, Isa Highland Dancers and Leichhardt Gymnastics among others.
The cry of the ham wheel was too good for many to resist with a few lucky punters bringing home the bacon for Mother’s Day.
The fete followed a special performance at school assembly on Friday to pay tribute to all the wonderful mums in their lives.
